Today we started class with 20 minutes of SSR. After we finished SSR, Mrs. Edwards stamped our homework from yesterday, the printed sheet of song lyrics of your choice.

Next, Mrs. Edwards explained the in-class activity we worked on. We had to identify and analyze one song. We had to identify as many devices as possible and prepare to present in class.

To guide us, Mrs. Edwards wrote three questions on the board:

  • What is the “poet” trying to do? (Think about the four categories)
  • How do you know? (Provide evidence from “text”)
  • Was he/she successful?

Our homework for today is to register for the college fair (go to the class blog for information).
